Parents In ACTION (PIA):

PIA parent leaders meet monthly to go over school data and discuss school improvement projects.

What is Parents in Action?

Parents in Action is a program that engages and empowers parents to organize as agents of change in their child's school.

How does it work?

Through Parents in Action, schools mobilize groups of parent leaders to analyze school challenges, investigate root cause, and design and implement community-based solutions with projects that support schools.

Why Parents in Action?

Parents must have inherent knowledge of what their children and communities need to be successful, yet challenges exist for marginalized parents to be heard. By implementing Parents in Action, schools will build authentic parent and family engagement, community trust, and unified parent voice that leads to strong parent-school partnerships in support of all students.

Parent Volunteering:

Parent volunteers are an integral part of our Crawford Community. Studies show that parent volunteers help boost student academic performance, improve behavior, and enhance school resources. Their involvement fosters stronger teacher-parent relationships, provides essential classroom support that allows educators to focus on instruction, and creates a more engaged, supportive community, which ultimately leads to higher student motivation and better school attendance.

  • Please track your volunteer hours in this form, so that we can share our collective impact at the end of the year.
  • If you are interested in volunteering at Crawford, contact the Community Team and complete the following steps:
    1. Send Maggie a photo of your ID and a headshot photo for your badge to [email protected]
    2. Complete the online Volunteer/Partner Screening and Badge Request Form to start the badging process. Filling out this form is required every year.
