Crawford is committed to supporting our students coming from across the globe by providing a safe and welcoming environment, offering targeted language support, and connecting families with necessary resources. Crawford staff strive to create trauma-informed classrooms, integrate students' cultures into the curriculum, connect new students with a Student Ambassador, and ensure consistent communication with families in their preferred language.
-
Student Ambassadors: Students Ambassadors are a group of culturally and linguistically diverse Crawford students who have been trained to help orient new students to the school and to answer common initial school questions. Crawford Ambassadors will act as "friends" to their newly-arrived peers by welcoming them to the school, providing a school tour, clarifying expectations, and explaining rules in their native language.
-
TRYP Wellness Groups: Crawford partners with Aurora Mental Health & Recovery to provide TRYP (Trauma Resilience Youth Program) groups for immigrant and refugee students. AuMH has patient navigators to support different language and cultural groups, and work with students to support integration into the US school system while celebrating students’ own heritage and cultures.
